and it begins...

as if turning the calendar this morning plunged us in to winter.  or at least a chilly, cloudy fall...

biking in this weather this morning was like a jolt to the system.  too abrupt.  (and where did the sun go?)  when i went back out in it later i put on gloves.  mismatched ones, but no matter.  and my ears, under a double layer of hoods.  and having been out in it once already and remembering my reaction to it, all helped, and i felt better and realized it wasn't yet the cold that gets through a layer of jeans or gives your forehead an ice cream headache.  and strange as it was, i saw an astonishing number of school children in shorts and t-shirts.

even my own guy is sitting outside without his coat on when i come to pick him up...
but he was sitting near a small fire... so it, at least, smelled warm.

his bamse ven... his stuffed animal friend, had been lost for a period of time, but one of his friends recovered him under some shelves.  unfortunately the only outfit he had left was the one he was wearing... the superhero costume...

the button really works.  no spatial skills required to make this costume came from me.
the boys and i finally make it home after i spend an exorbitant amount of time trying to get henry's chain, which had fallen off partway through the ride, back on.  it's good to be back in a warm home, but the second ride of the day was also a good reminder that as long as my fingers and ears don't freeze, it's good to be outside right now, too.
